As of today, we completed Phase 3 of our adoption paperwork! This was the Pre-Home Study portion, which contained the majority of what we needed to complete. All of our references have turned in their papers (thank you a million times!), and so now we come to the next phase of the process: MORE WAITING!
We still are waiting on our fingerprints to be cleared, and nothing more can be done until those get back to the agency. That should happen sometime in or around January. After which our caseworker can come and conduct a home study. In the meantime we can put together our Letter to Birth Parents, our profile, and scrapbook page...all the hard stuff. FYI, the scrapbook page is something they keep in the agency office to show to birth parents. I am going to definitely need help in this area! This portion is very daunting because we are now trying to convince parents that we are the right couple for them and their children. I don't know how to do that.
Even though we have a ways to go, the closer we get to eligibility the more excited we get. It is a really interesting prospect and scary to contemplate about the responsibility we are applying to take on. We are both excited and look forward to the next steps in this process.
Oh, as a side note on the baby front, my sister Jen is pregnant with her and Kacey's second child. They are due in March.

Holy smokes! How exciting! So... Kirby and I were wondering... Do you have to re-do all this paperwork stuff for each child you adopt? Or does it just stay in the system once it's there? We're so happy you're getting closer! Hopefully the time will fly by! January feels like forever away! And congrats to Jen and Kacey! Paha! We got to see a picture of their little girl when we went up there in July!
Wow. We had no idea you guys were in the adoption process. We wish you luck and let us know if there is anything we can do to help you out. You both are going to be wonderful parents.
